The DULM website has been neglected and dormant for a while now. Hell, this is the first blog post in the year 2024.

I went ahead and removed the cancerous ads from the site. It's not worth the chump change to harass anyone unfortunate enough to access dulm.blue without an ad blocker. The ads made DULM look like shit, and I'm starting to care more about DULM now.

DULM probably won't host new projects, but my attitude that DULM is a museum of old artifacts has changed. I've taken some steps to make DULM a more attractive and usable website, such as changing the font on the homepage to my new Fervostyle font, which aims to emulate the look of the text on receipts from stores and restaurants around the United States. After all these years I am still a huge fan of monospaced text. The font might be available to download on vincememe.net later.

I am considering migrating DULM to a server in the United States since it is currently hosted in Lithuania and it's often a shitty experience to use this website because of the obvious constraints of accessing a web server from 20,000 miles away or whatever. I only hosted this site in Lithuania because it was slightly cheaper than American servers. However, I'm certain that DULM's main audience are English-speaking Americans and western Europeans, so the decision to put the server on a throttled VPS in eastern Europe was simply retarded and must be corrected if I expect DULM to be a pleasant website to use. It must also be noted that DULM's current VPS has a lot of bandwidth throttling, so the experience would be shitty even for eastern Europeans. I've also thought about how that war in Ukraine could fuck with my server, but in the last two years Lithuania hasn't been attacked or whatever and probably won't be, but it's still a valid concern.

The reason I don't put new web-apps on DULM is because I like to make money, and I can't make money off DULM due to the shit content that advertisers probably won't like. In other words, the easiest way for me to make money from DULM would be to insert cancerous ads, which I did a few months ago. However, I still like DULM and so do many other people, so I'm taking some strides towards making this a better place not with the motivation for profit, but for maintaining the glory and legacy of DULM.
